The biography of Giovanni Gastel, Como internationally renowned photographer and jury member of the prestigious prize “City of Como”, is titled “An eternal instant” and is output by Mondadori. It is titled so also shows that the teacher held in Como at the Broletto in Cathedral Square, with a summary of its imaging stories through art, fashion and poetry, from 26 May to 17 giugno.
Even the memories of Giovanni Gastel are pictures, or rather vivid color photographs that stop moments of past life: the golden childhood spent between Milan and the beautiful home of the family of Cernobbio (where he lived and worked the Luchino Visconti uncle), meetings with the elite of world culture, the difficult years of the school, the discovery of love for photography and the timid self-taught as absolute beginnings in spite of his father who wanted him to graduate. A life consecrated to beauty, elegance, to poetry to Gastel. His exhibition with over thirty photographs taken during his forty years of occupation will be as stated in a prestigious setting as the Broletto, medieval palace, formerly the site of municipal institutions. Testimony of medieval times, Gothic with later additions, the Broletto was the seat of the municipal institutions in the thirteenth century. The palace is set against one with a bell tower used to call public meetings. The Broletto is located in the religious area '' of the city, between the Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace. Now used for events and as a venue, yet it retains all the charm of the building.
